I have a 3 yr old 65" led TV. The screen won't come on. The red light at the bottom blinks 6 times when I try to turn it on. I unplugged the tv for 10 mins and plugged back in. Still having the same issue. Go to Solution. View solution in original post. I have a 55" led tv, the light was blinking constantly and the set would not turn on. After checking the pwoer supply and veryfing correct voltages I unplugged and then reconnected the cables from the power supply to the main board, main board to lcd unit, and 2 connectors from the lcd board to the screen.
After doing that the backlight came back, the screen is normal, and the set turns off and on normally. It would appear that the connections from the lcd board to the screen needed to be reseated. But did it work? We are having the same problem and we wanted to know if it would work before we go in. Would they tell you what was wrong with it? Sign In. Turn on suggestions. The following is meant for informational purposes only and not meant to be an instructional guide. A few weeks ago I was watching my Sony 60 inch rear projection TV model KDF-E60A20 when the screen turned blank and the normally green power-on indicator started blinking red.
I thought, this has to be a bad thing. My first assumption was the bulb died. The bulb did not die, there is a whole other indicator light for a dead bulb. What was actually happening is the power-on indicator light was blinking 6 times. Some googling on this subject indicated that the thermal fuse had blown and it needed to be replaced. Sony apparently has a service bulletin E that covers the replacement. In order to access this information you have to be some sort of authorized service personnel.
Let me go on for a moment and say why I think this is a total scam. This website is profiting off the situation by providing information was created by Sony.
This is something that Sony should be fixing for free. First, the thermal fuse is simply a small electronics part on the end of two wires that connects to the harness in the TV. The wire comes wrapped up in a small package about the size of two dimes. Thanks Sony for wasting resources getting this to me. The thermal fuse is located under the lamp housing in my TV and can be seen using the procedures for replacing the lamp in the manual.
It took me a while to figure out that this monstrosity is the thermal fuse considering how tiny the replacement is. Unfortunately In order to get to the wiring harness I had to remove the rear panel of the TV.
Then I removed the fan housing to gain access to the original thermal fuse. I followed the wires back up to where they connected to the wiring harness. I unplugged the original fuse and plugged in the new one and ran the wires to where the original fuse is.
I did not remove the original fuse. I wrapped the new fuse wiring around the old one. There may be a actual place to mount the new fuse but i didn not see the service bulliten so I cannot say for sure. Having the thermal fuse in close proximity to the lamp seem logical. If you happen to know exactly where the fuse should go, please leave a comment.

Thank you so much for your information! This is saving me a lot of money and probably my marriage LOL! Thanks, Cheyenne! A technician from a big retail store where I bought it came and he cannot figure out whats wrong with it, he change the lamp and the motherboard circuit and still it did not work.
The guy cannot figure it out why it is blinking red 6X.848 angel number
When tried to restart the set, we experienced an issue which is a known issue worldwide i. Before calling customer support, we performed factory reset; however, the problem still persists. It is very disappointing when you have to go through this with a brand like Sony. It makes more sense to buy products from cheaper brands which cost far less, and unfortunately if there are problems, the repairs are also going to be cheaper and faster.

Totally disappointed with Sony. Will never recommend a Sony product to anyone. Rgds, Sudhir Setiya [protected]. Hello everyone Over the last one year, I have received many calls and I've tried helping with the limited knowledge I posses about this issue. The recent development is, that if the kept unused for a few days and plugged back directly into the wall socket instead of a surge protector, it works. However, the engineers from Sony informed me that the issue is with the panel and it will cost 20K to get it fixed and that too, they will take the TV with them and it might take more that 2 weeks.
Apparently, I had to buy a new TV and the first thing I did was to get it insured to be on the safe side Once bitten, twice shy :. After two years 11mar issue occurs, Customer care not responding well, Totally disappointed with Sony. Rgds, s nasir basha [protected] Guntakal, anantapur dist.
I purchase a sony bravia klv 40rc one year before. But sony service centre told you change the whole display parts rate is inr I think a very worst service in sony. The same issue with most of sony bravia tv buyers even the same problem we are facing.
Resolving The 6X Red Blinking Light Of Death On My Sony TV (with pictures)
Why this sony company are not understanding and fix the problem asap, simply by saying that their brand is world number one brand. People are buying sony tv with trust even it is more expensive compare with other brands.
Am also having same issue. Immediately after 3 months display gone and they have changed in warranty period. Again the same problem happen now. Red light blinking for 6 times and no display. They said the LED display gone and i need to replace the new one which is Rs Normally in previous years there is brand name for sony and the picture tube will valid for 15 yaers.
But in this case am seeing many of them having issue in the model KLV which means this would be an manufacturung defect. Anyone gets any rectification given by sony? The diagnostic blinking will occur automatically with no action required by you to engage it.
The timing of the blinking you see would be as follows: two to nine blinks, depending on the faultabout a third of a second apart, then a pause for 3 seconds, then the two to nine blinks about a third of a second apart again. Here is a list of the problems that might have occurred indicated by the number of blinks. The words in parentheses are those, which you will see for each of these faults on a diagnosis screen described later in this article. Nine blinks - Replace D and D on the "G" board, do not resolder as this will fix the problem temporary.
If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times you get flashing, then change the switching regulator on the "G" board or check connections. Make sure the regulator is or negitive. Ten blinks - Check Q and Q for shorts, leakage, or bad solder connections on the " D" board. If the transistors are bad, check R and IC, also on the "D" board. Intermittent problems? This is a great feature.
You can also bring up these fault codes on-screen to see a list of the problem numbers with the abbreviation of the problem and the number of times this problem has occurred. This is slightly different than entering the service mode. To see the diagnostic screen, press the following buttons: Display, Channel, 5, volume Minus, not plus then Power.
This brings up a screen with a list of the problems and number of times they have occurred. We have repeated them in parentheses in the text for the "Blinks" described above so you can correlate between the diagnostic screen and the blink codes. Now that you know about these self-diagnostics, how do you use them? Say that you have a set with a black screen. You see that the LED is blinking four times.
This would tell you that you have no vertical sweep, which is why the video is muted. If it was blinking 6 times, you would know that you have a horizontal fault.
It's not a sure cure. These codes do not reset themselves after the fault is corrected, so if you don't clear them, you'll be seeing "old" fault codes the next time you enter this screen. Clearing is done by going into the service mode display, channel, 5, volume plus, then power.
Press 8 and Enter, which returns everything to the factory preset condition. I read that you have access to repair manuals for Sony TVs.
I have a friend that has a Sony KPWS that quit working No picture, and it turns itself off 5 seconds after after turning on. Do you have an eloctronic version of the manual? If so, would it be much trouble to e-mail it to me at garth yahoo. Any help would be appreciated. This forum has been helpful to me in deciding how to handle my Sony problem and also in guidance choosing its replacement. My Sony Vega is doing the blinking thing, It blinks like normal on statup but only has audio- then turns itself off.
After that it gives me 10 blinks- with no audio and repeats 10 blinks over and over untill I turn it off. I got it to work for me later in the day, picture and audio.
Now the red light blinks 5 time while watching it.Last night I was getting picture but only for minutes after unpluging from main, also last night I connected to the internet and watched for about 30 minutes.
Now no picture at all only the blinking light. I hope you can help. I have had a look at the service manual for your model tv, 3 blinks is indicates a DC Alert or audio and communications error. Unfortunately that is all I can find out im afraid. Community Share your experience! Turn on suggestions. This is only year old TV.I bought this TV about 2yrs ago. Now when you switch it on the sony logo comes on for a couple of seconds then goes off and the led on the front flashes red 6 times.

Understanding Sony Television Blinking Codes
Still under warranty. It turns off on its own and then red light blinks. A little worried. We're sorry to hear that. May we ask for the exact model number of your Sony TV? Thanks for your reply. I bought it on Amazon and I'm just looking at it now and I see a note that says that it is return eligible through Jan 31, I would really like to know if this issue has potential of getting worse and break the TV later on and I should return it I like the TV, but I don't want to have to pay for parts or repairs later on I need some kind of warranty on this Thanks for getting back to us.
Kindly send me a private message regarding this concern and include this thread link on your message. Hi Krazed, my Bravia xbr55xc has also been showing the same signs discussed above. Did Sony resolve your issue? What options are available? Seems questionable to continue to sell a television model for which replacement parts are no longer available. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that this may have caused.
I ran through the troubleshooting steps on the link you sent me, but was unable to identify the root problem. I did a reboot of the television with all external inputs disconnected and selectively tried to connect them to determine if there was a problem with a device connected to a specific HDMI port. Furthermore, I have the same thing occur when I try to use an app on the host operating system like YouTube, which to me would suggest that the issue is not related to inputs, but rather is processing or display-related.
Finally, I had the television physically disconnected for something like 5 hours last night and reconnected it. Are there any other tests that I can run to narrow down whether there is a GPU or related issue with the display? Provided I can get the OS to boot as normal? Hi ephraimperez.300d engine swap
We regret to hear that the steps provided by my colleague failed to fix the issue. In this case, please have your TV check by an authorize technician to further determine the root cause of the issue. You may visit our service website to help you locate a servicer near you. I have the exact same problem. Is there any software solution to this problem? There are no authorized repair location in my state.
After some experimentation, I have some advice and I think if you have the same issues as me, i could have a root cause. This suggest that there is an issue with the power system that faults when making the transition. To get the TV back to working order, i have unplugged the TV from wall, disconnected everything including Ethernet and let it sit for at least 30mins to an hour. After waiting this amount of time, i plug the TV back into the wall, use the REMOTE to turn it back on and once it is at full power, connect everything back to the system.
I only have Ethernet so this is not much of the hassle. Counting on the fact that screen uses the most power. Given all this, my suspicion is that the power distribution module is somehow faulty.
